Saarbrücken-Burbach (ots) - In the night from Saturday to Sunday around 02:30 a.m., there was a chase in the Burbach area, which ended in the city center. In the course of a traffic control, a patrol detachment from the local office became aware of a Renault Kangoo, which briefly turned its vehicle around from the control location on Luisenthaler Straße. When trying to overtake and brake the vehicle, several attempts were made to ram the patrol car. The escape route stretched over Mettlacher Strasse, BAB 620, Bismarckbrücke, partly through the Nauwieser Viertel and ultimately ended in Kaiserstrasse. There the 28-year-old driver, who was under the influence of drugs and did not have a valid driver's license, was stopped and arrested.

In the course of the escape, the vehicle was partly driven at a speed of 140 km / h within the urban area. This resulted in numerous traffic violations, traffic hazards and near accidents. The police are now looking for witnesses or persons who were specifically endangered as a result.
