The designated FDP General Secretary Volker Wissing considers the formation of a coalition with the SPD and the Greens after the federal election in 2021 to be unlikely from the current perspective.

"I see a lot of differences between Saskia Esken, Norbert Walter-Borjans, Robert Habeck, Annalena Baerbock and us," Wissing told Focus. He shared the opinion of Christian Lindner: The FDP chairman had declared at the end of August that he did not consider a traffic light alliance at the federal level to be particularly attractive in terms of content.

The FDP is “far apart” from the Greens on many issues, said the designated FDP General Secretary.
