Ingelheim (ots) - In the residential area around Selztalstrasse, injured cats have been repeatedly found since the beginning of August. Sometimes the cats disappear temporarily and are picked up again outside of Ingelheim. In one case, a tomcat had a wound on his stomach which, according to the attending veterinarian, was not caused by an accident but by exposure to an object. The animal died as a result of the injury. This animal, like the other cat in the family, also had an oily liquid on its fur or paws. So far, seven similar cases have become known. Violations of the Animal Welfare Act are not peculiar offenses. The penalty framework provides for a freedom road of up to three years or a fine.

Witnesses are asked to report to the responsible police station in Ingelheim (06132/65510).
