Kaiserslautern (ots) - A man from the district probably had an accident on Monday morning under the influence of drugs. The 37-year-old was driving a car on Morlauterer Strasse towards the city center when, for an initially unclear cause, he ran into oncoming traffic shortly after 10 a.m. and collided with another vehicle.

The 53-year-old driver suffered a head injury from the impact and had to receive medical care on site. He was then taken to the hospital.

When the accident was recorded, police officers found a syringe in the perpetrator's car. When asked about this, the 37-year-old admitted to having used cocaine, heroin and methadone two days ago. The accident happened because he fell asleep at the wheel.

But that's not all: the check showed that the man had initially given incorrect personal details. He is not in possession of a driver's license. He is now facing criminal proceedings. | cri
