Losheim am See (ots) - Yesterday at 19:10 p.m., the police in Wadern received the message that a pedal boat occupied by 5 people had capsized on the Losheim reservoir. The inmates were young people and adolescents between the ages of 15 and 19, all of whom lived in Völklingen and Wadgassen. As the police were able to determine on site, the pedal boat filled up with water about 15 minutes after the start of the journey. Other pedal boaters on the lake became aware of this and came to the aid of the people and brought them back to the shore. An inmate complained of pain in the back of her head after being rescued on land. It was first supplied by a local ambulance. She was then taken to a nearby hospital for observation. All the others were visibly unharmed. Two cell phones carried by the group could not be switched on after the "water damage". The first police investigations revealed that the pedal boat was occupied by the maximum number of people allowed. The investigation into the actual cause of the accident is still ongoing.
