Saarbrücken (ots) - Yesterday evening (07.09.2020) the Saarbrücken professional fire brigade announced that three larger rubbish bins were seen in the Saar in the area of the Schanzenberg bridge, which would pose a danger to shipping due to their size and individual bags floating around.
As further investigations by the Saarland water police revealed, there were a total of six rubbish bins that had previously been on the meadow behind the congress hall and were secured by chains and padlocks. The chains were cut by unknown perpetrators and the garbage containers rolled over the embankment into the Saar.
Fortunately, there was no property damage. All containers and the individual sacks were salvaged by employees of the Mosel-Saar-Lahn Waterways and Shipping Office and then disposed of.
The police asked possible witnesses to contact the water police (Tel .: 06831/7699373).
