On Wednesday, our Elv competed for the second test game of this summer preparation in Cologne with the western regional league team Fortuna Köln. After our team was able to take the lead, the host turned the game around; our team of coach Horst Steffen lost 1: 3 (1: 1) in the end.
Due to the availability in North Rhine-Westphalia, only 15 players were allowed on the match sheet - with a correspondingly small squad, our team then traveled to Cologne in the morning. While Frank Lehmann, Lukas Kohler, Patryk Dragon, Luca Dürholtz, Thomas Gösweiner and Sinan Tekerci as well as Robin Fellhauer, Eros Dacaj, Israel Suero Fernández, Fabian Baumgärtel and Torben Rehfeldt were in the start-Elv, were Eric Gründemann, Yannik Haup, Theo Politakis and Del-Angelo Williams also started and were all substituted in at the start and in the second half.
In the first 45 minutes, a competitive test game was immediately apparent. Cologne had the first chance in the game with a header after a corner, which went past the SVE goal on the right. Our Elv scored the first goal. In the 11th minute, Israel Suero Fernández grabbed the ball after an attempted Cologne back pass at midline, saw Fortuna goalkeeper Kevin Rauhut was too far in front of the box - and sent the ball over halfway into the opponent's bow Gate to the 1-0 lead. A remarkable hit! As a result, a largely balanced game developed with not quite as many goal area scenes. Ten minutes before the break whistle, the host finally managed the not undeserved equalizer to 1-1. After a handball in an attempt to clear the penalty area, the referee decided on a penalty, Cologne's Roman Prokoph (36.) converted the penalty. With this intermediate result, the break went minutes later.
After the change of sides, the game as a whole picked up a little more speed. Our Elv worked a little more forward than in the first 45 minutes, but on the other hand let the Cologne attack more often. It was okay for Fortuna Köln to take the lead after a good hour, but it was unfortunate in this situation. With a largely uninhibited back pass, the ball jumped at the decisive moment, stumbled under the feet of the substituted founder's and rolled over to the Cologne 2-1 lead behind the line (61.). The best chances of scoring a SVE goal in the second half were Del-Angelo Williams, who had a strong goal but narrowly missed the goal, and Israel Suero Fernández, who brought a volley from left to center to the goalkeeper . Instead of the Elversberg equalizer, Fortuna's decision fell when Mike Owusu made an attack on the right side to make it 78-3 in the 1th minute. Overall, a deserved victory for the physically more present Cologne hosts.
After exhausting training and test game days, our Elv now has a few days off and time to relax. The next friendly will take place on Saturday, August 08th against FV Diefflen.
