Our Elv has confidently made it into the next round of the Saarland Cup. Our team celebrated a 7-0 (4-0) win in the game with Saarland league team FV Eppelborn on Tuesday evening.
Our trainer Horst Steffen rotated in the team line-up and changed properly. Eric Gründemann guarded the goal in the Illtal Stadium, on the field Nils Winter, Robin Fellhauer, Oliver Oschkenat, Fabian Baumgärtel, Mirza Mustafic and Theo Politakis as well as Benno Mohr, Gaetan Krebs, Kai Merk and Del-Angelo Williams were used.
In the summer, the two teams had already competed against each other in the pre-season preparation (6-2), so it was also clear to our team that they had to make a concentrated appearance against Eppelborn from the start in order to be successful. And under the drizzle in the Illtalstadion, our team implemented this, set the tone from the start and lived up to its role as favorite. The fans saw our Elv's early chances of scoring on the edge of the field, and after almost 20 minutes the ball landed in the Eppelborn box for the first time. Benno Mohr tanked himself left with a strong solo through the opposing defense to the penalty area and sent the ball across to Kai Merk, who pushed in for the 1-0 lead (19th). Less than two minutes later, Del-Angelo Williams gave the next template and half-right alone in front of FV keeper Dennis Lißmann on the better placed Merk, who put the 2: 0 (21). A quarter of an hour later the two swapped roles - Merk and Williams pulled out of the opposing line of defense at just the right moment and stood alone in front of the goalkeeper of the hosts, from the left Merk pushed the ball on to Williams, who then put the ball into the empty Rolled out gate (37th). Shortly before the break whistle followed the 4: 0, when Mirza Mustafic shot the ball half right and from close range past the opposing goalkeeper into the box (44.). Our Elv had already missed a few more good chances at this point, but Eppelborn has so far offered a lot of resistance, defended courageously and tried his luck forward. In one or the other scene, Eric Gründemann also had to grab in the SVE goal, even shortly after the start of the game with a standard, which our keeper was able to distract.
After the change of sides and with increasing game time, the SVE dominance on the court became more and more clear. The game was barely kicked off again when our team added the next goal - Baumgärtel brought a free kick from the left to Eppelborner Tor, Kai Merk found the gap and headed for 5-0 (46.). After that, more and more a game developed for a goal, on the wet surface our trainer changed a bit and sent Lukas Kohler (57./ for Baumgärtel), Mike Eglseder (62./ for Mohr) and Thomas in the course of the game Gösweiner (73./ for Merk) into the game. Regardless of the players on the field, nothing changed in the balance of power. Our Elv still had a few huge chances, for example with a foul from Williams or an aluminum goal from Politakis - nevertheless the ball fidgeted twice in the net. In the 70th minute Del-Angelo Williams prevailed nicely and scored 6: 0, a few minutes later our striker scored his third goal of the evening and used a cross from Nils Winter to the 7: 0 final score (75th) .
All in all, a good and confident appearance by our Elv, which is thus in the next cup round. A little patience is required until the next cup opponent is determined - the other Saarland Cup games will only be played in the coming week, so the draw for the next round will be a bit of a wait. Now it's back to the Regionalliga Südwest, where our Elv will be at Rot-Weiß Koblenz on Saturday, September 28th, at 14.00 p.m.
