The long break also comes to an end this weekend for the U21 SV Elversberg. On Sunday, September 06th, the team of coach Marco Emich starts the new season in the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saar Süd. At 15.30 p.m. FC Speyer welcomes FC Speyer on the artificial turf at the Kaiserlinde.
Alone the new league mode with a two-part RPS-Oberliga as well as championship and relegation round will be a new experience for the U21s. "We are excited, it will be an interesting round for sure," says Marco Emich: "It will be exciting to see how our many young players find their way in this new constellation and the new class." The overall goal of the Elversberg runners-up remains the further development of the young players, but in order to secure the class early, the team wants to reach the championship round.
A positive start against Speyer on Sunday would be important, but Emich knows about the difficulty of the opening task. “As a newcomer, Speyer has a very young team. The club also benefits from their good youth work, they made the U19 coach the first team coach in the summer. The boys are well-rehearsed and playful. It will definitely be a difficult task and a very tough challenge. ”As things stand, almost all players are available on the Elversberg U21 side: only the long-term injuries Marvin Wollbold and Silas Schmitt are still out against Speyer.
