Against Rot-Weiß Koblenz our Elv was able to hold onto the three points on the Kaiserlinde on Saturday. After an exciting fight our team won the home game in the URSAPHARM-Arena with 4: 2 (2: 1).
In the course of the week of preparation, it was already clear that our head coach Horst Steffen would have to change one position or another. Some players were absent and there were also a few rotations with a view to the stress of the next English weeks. With Laurin von Piechowski, Lukas Kohler, Luca Dürholtz, Fabian Baumgärtel and Kevin Koffi, five new players moved into the Start-Elv against Rot-Weiß Koblenz.
Against the guests from Rhineland-Palatinate, the start of the game did not go according to plan. Both teams had half-chances in the first few minutes, but Koblenz tended to retreat into their own half and wait for a counterattack - or for mistakes by our Elv. Such a goal then also led to an early goal. After losing the ball in the build-up of the game in the SVE half, Koblenz switched quickly, the ball landed half-right at Valdrin Mustafa, who was able to insert relatively undisturbed and flat to 0: 1 just behind the penalty area border (9th). Another heavy blow that our team had to deal with and put away. But that succeeded over time. Our Elv worked his way back into the game from minute to minute - and then had his own chances. In the 21st minute, Patryk Dragon had two options. After a free kick by Israel Suero Fernández, he started an overhead kick from 15 meters, the ball dipped well towards the goal, but RWK goalkeeper Baboucarr Gaye steered it over the bar with his fingertips. In the corner kick that followed, Dragon came to the end again, but his header landed just next to the goal.
But our Elv was now buoyant! Just a few minutes later, Kevin Koffi performed a strong solo: half lying on the ground, he grabbed the ball on the left side, ran through to the front and shook off two other opponents on the way to the goal - and sent at the six-yard area he then the ball into the far corner to equalize 1: 1 (34th)! And shortly before the break, our Elv struck again and turned the gap to the break lead. A long ball from Dragon landed at the top at Koffi, who pushed briefly onto the Baumgärtel who was running along - and Israel Suero found his flank in the center, who pulled flat into the right corner from ten meters - the 2: 1 (40th)!
With the change of sides, there were also the first changes in personnel at our Elv. Horst Steffen sent Robin Fellhauer and Maurice Neubauer into the game for Lukas Kohler and Manuel Feil, who had been prejudiced with yellow. The goal of our team was clear: to top it off as quickly as possible and thus decide the game early on. And the chances were there, again thanks to Koffi. But our Elv has not yet managed to put the lid on and so calm the game. And with a standard, the guests from Koblenz came back into the game. After a short corner kick, the cross from the right landed at Julius Schell, who won the air duel and scored 46-63 with his head (2th).
Another setback, but our Elv wouldn't let down. Almost ten minutes later, Suero took a free kick really quickly and surprised the still unsorted Koblenz defense - the ball landed in front at Kevin Koffi, who went into the duel with goalkeeper Gaye, passed the goalkeeper and then from the goalkeeper with a foul Legs was taken. Logically, there was the penalty, Koffi took it himself - and converted the penalty into another lead for our Elv (74th). Shortly afterwards, red-white weakened itself when substitute Tomislav Ivicic was sent off for complaining with yellow-red (82nd). Due to the tight lead of our Elv, the game remained exciting until the end. The final decision was only made in stoppage time. After a flat pass from Tekerci, Maurice Neubauer came to the end, his ball was still blocked, but the rebound was secured by Suero Fernández, who pulled from twelve meters from the center and scored to 4-2 (90 + 2).
A little later it was over - after a tough fight, our Elv earned three points against Rot-Weiß Koblenz. With the victory in the back, things are going on quickly. The game against Koblenz was at the same time the start of an English week, which will continue on Tuesday, October 20th, with the away game at FSV Frankfurt. The game in the PSD Bank Arena starts at 19.00 p.m.
