The tension rises, the anticipation grows - the first Saar derby in this regional league season 2020/2021 is imminent! Tomorrow, Saturday, October 03rd, SV Elversberg will play an away game at FC Homburg. The game in the Homburg Waldstadion will kick off at 14.00 p.m.
SVE head coach Horst Steffen wants to see a reaction from his team after the recent appearance against Hessen Kassel (1: 1). “We didn't do much of what we normally can against Kassel,” says the coach: “I expect the team to show a reaction, to appear very motivated in Homburg, to act as a team and defend with pressure and play football well together . “The hosts from Homburg also recently dropped points and suffered a 2-3 defeat in their home game against FK Pirmasens on Tuesday evening. But otherwise “they played very consistently in the games I saw,” says Horst Steffen: “They have a good game structure, work well on the defensive, are committed to the front and flexible in the development game.”
After four wins and two defeats, the FCH is in third place in the table. “It's a well-staffed team, Homburg has improved even further compared to the cup final. Except for the Kassel game, we were also better off recently. But we need another performance like we did against Schott Mainz or St. Pauli in order to win against Homburg, ”says coach Steffen, who still has to do without Mirza Mustafic and Nico Karger. The last ailing Torben Rehfeldt has now resumed running training, but whether the defender can play again against FC Homburg will only be decided at short notice.
