"We can no longer accept the blockade of Federal Interior Minister Seehofer," said SPD parliamentary deputy Dirk Wiese of the "Saarbrücker Zeitung" (Friday edition). Seehofer must now immediately clear the way for a quota solution at federal level, "so that federal states and municipalities that are ready to help can immediately help together".
Wiese further said: "Sitting out and being listless are of no use to us with other dossiers either." The SPD has been campaigning for the reform of the Federal Police Act for months. There are controversial points with regard to an expansion of investigative powers. "That Seehofer completely refused to work during the summer break is incomprehensible," said Wiese.
