In the fight against the spread of African swine fever in Germany, the Federal Veterinary Association has called for financial support for the search teams.

"The search for fallen game requires a lot of staff from local hunters and good cooperation with the district administrative authorities," said the President of the Federal Veterinary Association, Uwe Tiedemann, of the "Rheinische Post" (Friday edition). "Sufficient financial resources must be made available for the search parties, as veterinarians cannot cope with this alone."

Likewise, all possibilities must be exhausted and financially supported that enable a further reduction in the wild boar population, according to the President of the Federal Veterinary Association. He added that pig farmers are responsible for maintaining biosecurity and thus avoiding the introduction of the virus into domestic pig herds.
