Our U21 played the catch-up game in the Saarlandliga away against SF Rehlingen-Fremersdorf on Thursday evening - and was able to regain the lead in the table! After the clear and well-deserved 4-0 victory in the Bungert Stadium, our second from coach Marco Emich is now two points ahead of the first pursuer Sportfreunde Köllerbach.
Overall, the game in Rehlingen was a clear affair. Our second was able to dominate the game from the start and had the opponent under control at all times. Defensively, our young team did not really allow dangerous situations, and in the game forward our U21's performance was quickly crowned with success. After just ten minutes our second was leading 2-0 after Moritz Koch (8th) and Mike Scharwath (10th) were able to sink the ball into the goal. "Our game was convincing yesterday from the start," said coach Emich: "We had other, very good chances and could have led even higher after the first half." But Emich's team struck again immediately after the break - again it was Scharwath who was successful and the result screwed up to 3-0 (47th). “The 3-0 win was basically the decision. Especially since we continued to dominate the game and played confidently, ”said Emich. The last goal of the game came in the 64th minute through a Rehlingen own goal. "The win was well deserved, especially since we missed four or five really good chances," said the U21 coach: "It was definitely a good performance by our team."
Easter Monday against Ottweiler-Steinbach
Easter Monday, April 22nd, is the next league game for our second. Our U21 will play at 15.00pm in the away game at FSG Ottweiler-Steinbach. The table twelfth in the Saarland League has had a season with ups and downs, currently the opponent is in a less good phase. The last win came to Ottweiler-Steinbach at the beginning of November in the home game against Rehlingen-Fremersdorf. Emich believes that the FSG, which is still playing for relegation, will fight for the points all the more: “Ottweiler-Steinbach is an opponent who is physically very robust and strong in fighting. It's a very uncomfortable opponent, especially when you play against him abroad. We have to try to throw our footballing quality into the balance, play quickly there and of course use our chance. Even if it will be a difficult game on Monday, our clear goal is to stay in first place with a win. ”
