Government plans no further entry into vaccine developers

According to CureVac, the federal government does not want to join any other vaccine developers.

"The federal government is not planning any further investments in companies that are researching a Covid-19 vaccine," says a response from the federal government to a request from the Greens, about which the "Handelsblatt" (Tuesday edition) reports. "Other companies have not asked the federal government," the answer goes on.

CureVac has been researching a corona vaccine since January. In mid-June, the federal government acquired a stake of around 300 percent in the Tübingen vaccine developer for 23 million euros. The federal participation is intended to ensure that the company is not taken over by a foreign investor and moves abroad. The federal government's entry into CureVac had caused controversy. Greens finance politician Daniel Bayaz criticizes: “The participation was surprising, hasty and non-transparent. Such decisions should at least be discussed in the Bundestag. ”
