Saarbrücken (ots) - 53 customs officers start today at the main customs office in Saarbrücken. With the ceremonial swearing in of the junior staff, they started their training and dual studies at customs.
The young professionals complete a two-year apprenticeship (medium service) or a three-year study program (high-level service). Theory and practice alternate and build on one another. The theoretical parts are completed at customs-owned training centers in Münster, Leipzig, Rostock, Plessow or Sigmaringen. The young professionals spend the practical phases in various departments of their main training customs office and at nearby customs offices.
"I'm really looking forward to working with our new colleagues," said Hans Barth, Head of the Main Customs Office in Saarbrücken, at the ceremony. "After the selection process, your path in our team for more justice in Germany begins today."
After completing the training, the young customs officers can be used in a wide range of customs duties. The spectrum ranges from levying taxes to combating undeclared work, combating smuggling and customs investigations.
With the employment at customs, the trainees expect not only many exciting and varied tasks, but also a secure job.
Customs will continue to offer training and study places for a secure future in a large federal administration in the coming years.
Interested parties can apply to the Saarbrücken Main Customs Office until September 1, 2021 for a position on August 30, 2020.
