Homburg (ots) - Due to the increasing number of infections, the police in Saarland have been monitoring compliance with the infection protection regulations for several weeks. Particular attention is paid to wearing the mouth and nose cover in local public transport and compliance with the applicable rules at events and in catering establishments is checked. In addition, attention is paid to too large a gathering of people.
In addition to their own daily checks, the officers of the Homburg Police Department regularly support the municipalities in their area of responsibility, which are primarily responsible for carrying out the control measures. Overall, the controls showed a high level of acceptance of the measures, in some cases administrative offense proceedings had to be initiated and a restaurant in Homburg had to be closed.
On Friday, November 6th, 2020, the controls will be extended again. From 14:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m., the local police authorities and officers from the state police and federal police carry out joint checks throughout the Saarland. The Homburg police station is involved in the controls. Together with the city of Homburg, the Homburg weekly market, restaurants and shops in downtown Homburg as well as the Homburg train station and various bus stops are patrolled in a combined patrol made up of forces from the municipal security service, federal police and officers from PI Homburg.
