The final decision on the new statutory regulation of organ donation should be made in the third week of January in the Bundestag. As the newspapers of the Funke media group (Tuesday editions) report, citing parliamentary circles, the third reading of the current bills is now scheduled for January 16. There are two motions to vote.
A group of representatives around Federal Minister of Health Jens Spahn (CDU) and SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach wants to introduce a double contradiction solution. According to this, in future every organ donor should be who has not documented a contrary will in a register or has communicated it to his relatives. A bipartisan group led by the Green Party leader Annalena Baerbock, on the other hand, proposes an approval solution in which potential organ donors should be regularly reminded to document their decision in a state donor register.
