The excavators are already rolling in Neunkirchen in the coming week: the district town of Neunkirchen has decided on the development plan for the new Globus department store at the Hüttenpark. Around 250 apprenticeships and jobs are to be created.
"We thank the city of Neunkirchen for the trustful cooperation in the past years and for the support of our project. We are convinced of the added value of our offer for the city and would like to offer Neunkirchen citizens a completely new shopping format with our future fresh market“, Says Thomas Bruch, managing partner of the Globus Group. "The Saarland is our home, we are now looking forward to finally becoming part of Neunkirchen".
The necessary preparatory work on the property has already been carried out in recent weeks, as Globus said in a statement.
The civil engineering work in the form of the straightening of the site will start as early as next week. The erection of the steep slope along the Heinitzbach will also begin, but will continue until autumn due to the high workload.
Saarland companies will be involved in the construction of the market. "Wherever possible, Globus involved regional companies in the construction of its new market. A group consisting of the OBG Group from Ottweiler and the Peter Groß Bau GmbH from St. Ingbert were commissioned for civil engineering“, Communicates the company.
Mayor of Neunkirchen Jörg Aumann is satisfied: “I am happy that Globus will become part of the shopping city of Neunkirchen. The investments and orders of the Saarland family company are good for the local economic cycle, especially in the current situation. It is a right and important signal for the future that around 250 new training and jobs will be created by Globus in our city".
Globus operates 47 hypermarkets in Germany and, with its approximately 19.000 employees, generates annual sales of over 3 billion euros.
