Trade warns of a mess of papers with proof of vaccination

In the discussion about more freedom for vaccinated people, the trade association HDE called for digital control options.

The retail sector is dependent on the fact that the conditions under which it can allow customers to enter its stores are regulated “clearly”, HDE managing director Stefan Genth told the “Handelsblatt” (Wednesday edition). "Gray areas and uncertainties must be avoided here, otherwise the dealers will suffer from numerous conflicts at the shop doors."

Genth called for “simple and digitally possible proof options” for those recovered, vaccinated and tested. "We have to avoid as much paper mess as possible," he said. “It would be best if the relevant evidence could be integrated into existing apps.” Retailers are looking forward to their customers, but politicians should now “not leave the industry alone with the long-known and foreseeable challenges”.
