"The salaries of the health insurance chiefs are disproportionately high," said left parliamentary group leader Dietmar Bartsch the "editorial network Germany" (Sunday editions). If the coffers record billion deficits because of Corona, it also needs a contribution from the boardrooms, he added.

"We need a wage cover that is below the health minister's pay," demanded Bartsch. He also called for membership and contribution obligations for cash directors in the statutory health insurance. "You should pay in where the insured people who represent you pay," he demanded. For the next election period, the left-wing parliamentary group leader also demanded that members of the Bundestag be obliged to take out statutory health insurance. At the end of 2020, the coffers posted a deficit of 2,65 billion euros, the health fund was down by 3,5 billion euros. Bartsch also called for top earners to pay more. "It must not be that low and normal wage earners as well as pensioners have to bear the corona consequences in the social system through higher taxes such as additional contributions from the health insurance," said the left-wing politician. "Corona solos are needed for top earners in the form of a significant increase in the contribution assessment and compulsory insurance limit," he demanded. This would be a first step towards citizens' insurance, into which all citizens should pay, said Bartsch.
