This emerges from this year's federal report on energy research, which will be submitted to the federal cabinet on Wednesday and on which the newspapers of the Funke media group will report. According to the report from the Federal Ministry of Economics, the total investment of 1,22 billion euros corresponds to an increase of around six percent compared to the previous year.
There were a total of 5.980 ongoing projects, 1.590 new projects were added last year. According to the report, the money flowed mainly to universities, which made up around 30 percent of the beneficiaries of the newly approved projects. It was followed by small and medium-sized enterprises (25 percent), which received a total of 122,5 million euros in funding. The Federal Ministry of Economics put the contribution that the subsidized companies in Germany had to raise at 303,6 million euros. The largest share of the funding was spent on research in the field of energy generation with 256 million euros, followed by research on the energy transition in the consumption sectors, for which around 210 million euros were approved.
