In regions in Germany where the critical limit of 50 new infections per 100.000 inhabitants is exceeded within seven days, mobility is falling.

This was announced by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Wednesday after a special evaluation of experimental data. Accordingly, mobility in the rural districts and urban districts, which had a critical seven-day incidence in the 42nd calendar week, decreased by 38 percent compared to the 13th calendar week.

Although factors such as the weather and tourist activity also influence the mobility of the population, mobility in the less affected districts and urban districts decreased by only seven percent in the comparison period, which is around half as much.
