Saarbrücken-Dudweiler (ots) - This Wednesday evening around 17:22 p.m. there was a high-profile police operation in 66125 Saarbrücken-Dudweiler. The management and situation center of the prison police of the Saarland and the police inspections Saarbrücken-Stadt and Sulzbach received several emergency calls or messages about a male who was wearing only a bathrobe and walking around the "tower school" in Dudweiler. This person was clearly carrying a “firearm” and aimed it at pedestrians and drivers. The witnesses classified the "weapon" as a toy gun, but initially it was assumed that there was an acute threat. Thanks to fast and intensive search measures, the person was identified within minutes and initially taken into custody in their apartment. The 50-year-old, who was known to the police, admitted his behavior and was insightful and confessed. The “weapon” was ultimately found in the course of search measures in the schoolyard of the “tower school”. It was a children's or toy gun, actually recognizable as such for laypeople. The item was secured and will be destroyed with the consent of the owner. Administrative offense proceedings are now being initiated against the 50-year-old. Other authorities are also formally informed of the man's suspicious behavior by the local authorities.
