Lewis Hamilton wins his 6th Formula 1 world title. Like Michael Schumacher once, Hamilton dominates Formula 1 today.
In Austin, a second place is enough for him to win the championship. His Mercedes team was already the team world champion, and now the drivers' championship will follow. With his 150th podium in Formula 1, Hamilton is also celebrating an outstanding world title. He now overtakes legend Juan-Manuel Fangio, who won five world titles. Only Michael Schumacher has won one more title with 7 world championship titles.
Vettel out early
Sebastian Vettel already retired on lap eight with a broken rear suspension. Max Verstappen finished third.
Valtteri Bottas won the race after using a two-stop strategy to catch one-stop Hamilton one lap before the end of the race, who was no longer able to fight seriously for race victory on old tires.
