Due to a technical malfunction, blast furnace 4 at ROGESA has been producing visible clouds of smoke for around ten days. These are coal dust particles, as ROGESA reports on August 17 to selected news companies, including the Saarbrücker Zeitung.
We asked the responsible press office and were informed that the blast furnace had still not been normalized. The ROGESA pig iron company is a subsidiary of Dillinger Hüttenwerke (Dillinger).
The company apologizes for the emissions that the press spokeswoman says should not be harmful to health. It is also not yet clear when the blast furnace can be normalized again. They are in constant contact with the LUA (State Office for Environment and Occupational Safety).
The company did not want to comment on Regio-Journal when we asked whether the people severely affected by the pollution - in whatever form - could expect compensation.
