Greens parliamentary group leader wants rent controls for retailers

Green parliamentary group leader Katrin Göring-Eckardt has called for a rental price brake for small retailers in the discussion about the revitalization of inner cities.

"We need structural improvements to prevent inner cities from becoming deserted, for example through better commercial tenancy law with a functioning rent brake for small businesses and social institutions in existing properties," said Göring-Eckardt of the "Rheinische Post" (Wednesday edition). “We are also calling for an inner city emergency fund that will help turn the crisis into an opportunity and revitalize inner cities with innovative concepts,” said the Green politician.

There is still a lot of room for improvement in the results of the first trade round table with Minister of Economic Affairs Peter Altmaier (CDU). "Entrepreneurs need clear and reliable promises from the federal government quickly that the bridging aid will be extended beyond December."
