Four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel will compete in the premier class of motorsport for the Aston Martin racing team in the coming season.

The team, which currently drives under the name Racing Point, announced this on Thursday. The German will therefore replace Sergio Perez, who will leave the team after the season.

Vettel has a winning mentality that corresponds to the team's own ambitions, said Racing Point team boss Otmar Szafnauer. He is one of the best drivers in the world and will help take the team to the next level. Vettel himself expressed himself pleased. He called it a "great privilege" to drive for Aston Martin.

The Heppenheimer is currently climbing into the cockpit for Ferrari. His contract with the Italians, who are not among the top teams this season, will end at the end of 2020.
