"The catastrophe may have turned Beirut into rubble - but our friendship with Lebanon did not shake it," wrote Maas in a guest commentary for the "Bild" (Thursday edition). “The people in Beirut should know: We won't let them down,” wrote Maas.
The technical relief organization is on the way, rescue survivors from the rubble, more help will follow. According to Maas, the federal government's crisis team works “around the clock”. The local embassy is also doing everything it can to help Germans in Lebanon as best it can, said the Foreign Minister.
