According to the former National Security Advisor in the White House, John Bolton, the last word has not yet been spoken on the withdrawal of US troops from Germany.

"I think it will be relatively easy to correct this decision and limit the damage," said Bolton to the "editorial network Germany" (Thursday editions). In any case, this would apply if Trump lost the election on November 3rd.

Bolton said Trump does not stand for a serious strategy in US security policy. He was only interested in punishing Germany in some way. "That was a big mistake," said Bolton. He admitted that it would be "complicated" if Trump were to be re-elected. A second term of office could dramatically increase damage that has already occurred in many fields. Bolton was National Security Advisor to the US President from April 2018 to September 2019. He previously worked for predecessors Ronald Reagan, George Bush senior and George W. Bush.
