Kaiserslautern (ots) - There was a fire on Friday night in an apartment building on Mainzer Straße.

Shortly after midnight, neighbors noticed the fire and dialed XNUMX. The fire brigade, ambulance service and police immediately moved out. Twelve residents were able to leave the house unharmed. Two residents had to be taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. The twelve uninjured residents were provided with emergency accommodation by the regulatory authority.

Mainzer Straße was completely closed for around an hour for the duration of the extinguishing work. The damage caused is estimated at several tens of thousands. The cause of the fire has not been clarified. The police are investigating. | elz
