Quiigart / Sulzbach (ots) - Today, Wednesday around 12:10 p.m., a daytime apartment was broken into on Pestalozzistraße in Quiigart.
The 12-year-old perpetrator and her 13-year-old accomplice, both Serbian nationals residing in Saarland, used a window next to the house entrance to forcibly gain access to the property. Witnesses watched the children break in and immediately informed the police. When the perpetrators fled, a local resident chased the children in his car. The witness succeeded in arresting the boy and holding him until the police arrived. The girl was picked up by police forces in the course of the search measures that were immediately initiated. The children were taken to the Sulzbach police station, where further measures were carried out. The local officials worked closely with investigators from the burglary department. In the course of the searches, stolen property in the form of cigarettes and jewelry was found among the children. The 13-year-old lost some of the stolen tobacco products when he escaped.
Whether the two children can be linked to further break-ins is currently the subject of further investigations by the specialist service.
Since February 26, 2021, there have been three more burglaries in the Quiigart area with a total damage of approx. 1000 EUR. The crimes on February 26, 2021, around 10:45 a.m., in Sulzbacher Strasse and on February 28, 2021, around 19:12 p.m., in Steigerweg were attempted break-ins. In the case of the first-mentioned act, there are indications of a younger perpetrator who was possibly accompanied by a young man. Only in the case of the offense that took place in the “Nistelfeld” street between February 26, 2021, 10:45 a.m. and February 27, 2021, approx. 11:20 a.m., did the perpetrator (s) manage to get themselves To provide access to the deed property. It is not yet known whether something was stolen here. The investigations and the evaluation of the secured trace material are ongoing.
The children who were still under the age of criminal responsibility were handed over to the custody of the legal guardians or the youth welfare office after consultation with the public prosecutor's office after the police measures had been completed.
