Quiersche, OT Fischach (ots) - This Sunday afternoon, around 11:30 am, there was a serious and tragic dog bite at the “Netzbachweiher” in 66287 Fischbach, near the “Seeblick” inn.
The 10-year-old dog owner went for a walk with her grandmother, her sister and their dog. The child properly kept the 2-year-old Yorkshire Terrier on a leash. Here she met an approx. 50-year-old dog owner with longer hair, a beard and a strong stature, who carried a dark brown or black German Shepherd dog on a leash.
After the dogs sniffed each other briefly as they passed, the German Shepherd suddenly tore himself off the leash and bit the little Yorkshire Terrier. Then the grandmother and the girl tried to separate the dogs from each other, which ultimately succeeded. However, the bleeding terrier apparently jumped into the pond out of panic. The dog no longer wanted to follow the calls and was rescued by the grandmother, who jumped into the pond fully clothed. Now numerous strollers hurried to help the woman and the dog. The grandmother had to be looked after by an ambulance due to a slight hypothermia, while the dog was taken to a veterinary clinic. However, the terrier died in the arms of the 10-year-old during the transport. A veterinarian suspected that the dog died due to hypothermia in connection with the massive stress on the cardiovascular system during the attack.

The dog owner of the German shepherd meanwhile moved away from the location.

The police asked the male dog owner to contact the local office.
Witness references to the person are requested, police Sulzbach, Tel .: 06897/9330.
