Dillingen (ots) - Shortly after 15 p.m., the fire brigade, ambulance service and police are informed about a house fire in Marktstrasse in Dillingen.
A large contingent of emergency services is moving into downtown Dillingen.
When the police arrive, the fire brigade is already busy with extinguishing and rescue work. Clouds of black smoke emerge from the building.
Some of the twelve people present in the property can leave the danger area independently, but some residents have to be rescued by the fire brigade and a turntable ladder.
In addition to several ambulances, the rescue helicopter from Luxembourg is also on site. A total of six people with suspected smoke gas intoxication are taken to the surrounding hospitals.
According to the current state of the investigation, a house cat unfortunately did not survive the fire, other pets, a cat and two birds, were rescued.

Significant property damage occurs to the apartment building and the property is currently not habitable.

The cause of the fire is currently unclear. As soon as the apartment concerned can be entered, it is inspected by the criminal police to determine the cause of the fire.

In the entire inner city area around the Dillingen marketplace, traffic disruptions occur due to the deployment, and Marktstrasse and Lotteriestrasse are fully closed during the deployment.
