Dillingen (ots) - On Wednesday, March 31.03.2021, 19, around 20:8 p.m., a witness known by name announced by emergency call to the command and situation center of the Saarland police that he had just observed a race between several motorcyclists. The witness named the BAB 2, direction Luxembourg, between the junctions Dillingen-Mitte and Merzig as the location. He himself drove the aforementioned route in his car. The witness described at least six motorcyclists who apparently competed in groups of two. He also stated that he had observed how two small cars driving behind him had slowed down the following traffic by driving side by side in both lanes. The witness described the driving style of the motorcyclists as extremely risky, he estimated the speeds at well over 200 km / h.
Corresponding search measures were carried out by the Saarlouis and Merzig police inspections. However, neither the motorcyclists nor the two small cars could be detected.
A preliminary investigation into suspected illegal motor vehicle racing has been initiated. The investigations to determine the responsible driver are still ongoing.
The Saarlouis Police Inspectorate asks witnesses who can provide information about the vehicles involved or their drivers, or who have been endangered by their driving style, to contact the Saarlouis Police Inspectorate by telephone on 06831/9010.
