Saarbrücken (ots) - On the night of Sunday, April 18, 2021, around 02:50 a.m., a serious traffic accident occurred near the Roman fort. At the junction with Mainzer Straße / Eschberger Weg, a white limousine that drove out of Eschberger Weg into the intersection and a gray station wagon that drove on Mainzer Straße towards the city center collided.
Due to the violent impact, the station wagon was downright knocked over and remained on the passenger side. The front of the limousine was badly damaged. After the collision, your driver fled the scene of the accident on foot.
The officers from the Saarbrücken-Stadt police station who were called in, however, managed to arrest the fugitive in Mainzer Strasse, where he apparently tried to hide behind parked vehicles. The 25-year-old man, who lives in Saarbrücken, was ordered to take a blood sample to determine whether he was fit to drive. According to the current state of knowledge, he does not have a valid driver's license.
The seriously injured 62-year-old driver of the station wagon was taken to hospital with head injuries.
The investigation continues.
Witnesses are asked to report to the Saarbrücken-Stadt police station on 0681 / 9321-233 or to any other police station.
