Büchenbeuren (ots) - The director of the Police University, Friedel Durben, was pleased to welcome 203 young men and 75 young women to the Hahn campus, who started their bachelor’s degree in police service in the Hunsrück yesterday.
With 210 of the new students, the majority come from Rhineland-Palatinate, almost 70 new students come from Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Saarland, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Lower Saxony and one student from Belgium. Diversity is very important at the university, so the more than 1600 students in six courses also include migration experiences from over 50 nations.
The prospective police officers can look forward to a varied and scientifically sound bachelor's degree that will prepare them for the diverse requirements of the police profession over the next three years. The course conveys the legal, tactical and social science basics, combines these with practical exercises in modern training centers and regular internships with the police and criminal police in the police headquarters. There they meet the citizens of Rhineland-Palatinate very early on.
The course was of course adapted to the pandemic situation. In addition to the face-to-face course modified to comply with strict hygiene regulations, the 1600 students are offered a high proportion of digital courses. For this purpose, the university has an education server with the necessary teaching materials, digital lectures, videos and courses as well as teaching rooms in virtual reality.
