Reports: Tönnies no longer Schalke supervisory board chief

The meat manufacturer Clemens Tönnies is said to have resigned as chairman of the FC Schalke 04 supervisory board with immediate effect.

Several media reports citing a board meeting of the association. Tönnies was recently heavily criticized when over 1.000 corona infections were found in one of its meat factories in Rheda-Wiedenbrück.

Protests against him in the club had also become louder on the part of the fans. Tönnies was a member of the Schalke board of directors for 26 years and in 2001 became head of the board.
