Our second team had to travel to Geislautern for the away game on the 6th matchday of the Landesliga Süd. The hosts are currently chasing their claims and separated from their coach before the match day, which made them a dangerous opponent.
Geislautern put a lot of pressure right from the start and you noticed that the current position in the table does not correspond to the potential of the squad. Accordingly, the SVG was able to take the lead 1-0 in the sixth minute. The hosts' urge lasted up to 15 minutes, after which the "Zwädd" got stronger. So after 28 minutes you got a 1: 1 equalization by Tim Leinenweber on the flank of Niklas Follmann. Shortly before the break, there was a great opportunity to take the lead when Markus Woll ran alone on goal, but the goalkeeper was able to spy on the ball from his foot. The break went 1-1.
The second half started very frayed and was characterized by many duels in midfield, which hardly gave chances. A long range shot from Jule Fernsner was dealt with by the opposing goalkeeper after 68 minutes. Fernsner failed again shortly before the end on the post (88th). The hosts also had a good chance with a free kick in added time, but Fabi Wiest was able to excel again. So it remained in the 1-1 draw.
With a little luck in the end, the first away win might have been possible. Last week, however, they had some luck in their home win against Altenkessel and this time they were unlucky. That's just football. We can live well with the draw, because it has also been noticed that Geislautern will surely climb a few more places in the table. Next week you will be free of play due to the referee strike. The following week you have to go to the important away game for SV Herrmann-Röchling-Höhe. For this reason, it is necessary to go full throttle in training in the next two weeks.
