Alzey (ots) - An attentive bank employee prevented fraud to the detriment of an 81-year-old Alzeyer's on Friday. The man appeared there shortly before the branch closed and excitedly wanted to withdraw an amount in the five-digit range. The bank clerk asked suspiciously and found out that the senior thought he had received a call from his nephew, who was in an emergency and in dire need of the money. However, a query to the “real” nephew soon revealed that the caller had been a fraudster, but luckily this time he was left empty-handed thanks to the attentive bank employee. The Alzey police are again warning of fraudulent phone calls.
