Matthias Katsch, spokesman for the representatives of those affected "Eckiger Tisch", calls for more support from politicians in dealing with sexual abuse in the Catholic Church.

In a guest article for the “Zeit” supplement “Christ & Welt”, Katsch writes that the “commitment of the state level, especially parliament, is needed in the long term to support those affected”. Politicians should take an active role, especially in the negotiations on compensation arrangements, since there is an asymmetry of power between the victims and the “organization of the perpetrators”.

Political support is also required to make files and documents in the Vatican and in the Roman headquarters of the orders available for processing. "Especially when dealing with the institutions, with the Catholic Church in particular, I experienced politics as the great absentee," criticized Katsch.
