As the police report Homburg, for a 47-year-old driver with a Zweibrück license plate in the fast lane, "presumably as a result of excessive speed, a 59-year-old driver with a French license plate ahead".
The vehicle in front then hurled into the central guardrail and then came to a standstill on the hard shoulder.
The ascending vehicle also came to a standstill on the hard shoulder. Significant material damage occurred on both vehicles. The 59-year-old driver of the vehicle with a French license plate was caught in the vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire service.
Both drivers were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
According to the police, investigations are underway to determine whether the person causing the accident could be affected by alcohol.
The entire carriageway of the BAB6 was heavily contaminated by vehicle parts and dirt in the area of the accident, so that the freeway had to be completely blocked by a sweeper until around 22:30 p.m.
