Losheim am See (ots) - A traffic control of a van with a trailer in Losheim on Niederlosheimer Strasse by the Wadern police, carried out at around 00:10 a.m. today, produced a surprising result. After the 28-year-old driver from Losheim opened the trailer, the police officers found 9 slaughtered sheep. According to the driver and owner of the sheep, he slaughtered them and disposed of the heads, legs and innards on the wasteland in Niederlosheimer Straße. The animals did not wear ear tags and no mandatory ante-mortem inspection had taken place.
The State Office for Consumer Protection of the Saarland was informed of the incident.
There is currently a suspicion of a violation under the Animal Welfare Act and the Meat Hygiene Act.
