Mettlach (ots) - In the night to Thursday, around 02:50 a.m., a police accident was reported to the Merzig police inspection on the L 158 near Mettlach. According to the caller, his wife was the victim of the accident and he now went on foot in search of the injured game.
As part of the fact-finding process, the caller, a 31-year-old residing in Mettlach, immediately insulted and threatened the police. Neither the forces nor his wife were able to calm the man down. Since he became more and more aggressive towards the police and finally tried to attack them with fists, he had to be brought down and fixed on the ground. However, the 31-year-old did not calm down and continued to insult and threaten the officers while driving to the office. He also tried to spit on the police.
Due to the overall circumstances, the heavily drunk man was taken to police custody. Here he again resisted his planned release, which is why his stay in the detention cell was extended.
Corresponding criminal proceedings were initiated against the 31-year-old, a blood sample was taken from him.
