Trier / Saarbrücken (ots) - 140 grams of marijuana were secured by customs officers of the main customs office in Saarbrücken in Autobahn 1 near Trier last Sunday. The 29-year-old driver was temporarily arrested.
The driver had wrapped the marijuana in foil, a towel and a plastic bag before hiding it in the glove box. Nevertheless, the customs officers became aware of the prohibited cargo through the sweet smell in the vehicle. In addition to the 140 grams of marijuana, 10 grams of hashish were also found in a backpack.
Criminal proceedings were initiated against the 29-year-old from Saarbrücken on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Act. He was also temporarily arrested. The marijuana and hashish were seized.
Further processing was carried out by the customs investigation office in Frankfurt am Main, Kaiserslautern.
The case is pending with the Trier public prosecutor. At the request of the public prosecutor's office in Trier, the 29-year-old driver was brought before the investigative judge at the local court in Trier on 09.09.2019, who ordered him to be remanded in custody.
